Scooper 'The Gamer' alerted us today that Ben Stiller looks to have a new project in the works which we had not heard of before.
Fan of the site, but never contributed. I am a freshman at the University of Rochester and today Jerry Stoeffhaas, the Deputy Director of the NY State Governer's Office for Motion Pictures, came to speak to my intro to film class. He mentioned that there was some scouting being done for a Ben Stiller vehicle in which Stiller inherits a rundown, abandoned Civil War themed amusement park and is put in charge of reopening it and organizing Civil War reenactments. Sounds like a Stiller vehicle to me if I have ever heard one, but I wasn't able to find any buzz about it on the internet, so I figured I'd give you what I know.
'River Kwai' sent us more about this project as well...
The Ben Stiller vehicle being spoken of is a story by George Saunders called 'Civilwarland in Bad Decline.' I heard Saunders speak about it last year. It is included in a collection of stories by the same name (his other collection of stories is called 'Pastoralia'). For the record, Saunders is an unbelievably amazing writer.
